For most postgraduate teacher training courses in England you need to pay a tuition fee.

Postgraduate teacher training course fees

From autumn 2025, the maximum fees that providers can charge for postgraduate teacher training courses have increased. The increased amounts are shown on this page. If you've already applied for a course, speak with your provider to check if they'll be increasing their fees.

The maximum tuition fee for a postgraduate teacher training course for UK applicants is:

  • £9,535 per year for a full-time course
  • £7,145 per year for a part-time course
Non-UK citizens: postgraduate fees

Tuition fees vary depending on the provider. On average, they cost around £15,000 for non-UK citizens.

The maximum fee is around:

  • £36,000 per year for a full-time course
  • £17,500 per year for a part-time course
