Growing expert teachers

The growing expert teachers School Direct Consortium is a group of six schools across North Somerset, led by Golden Valley primary school, Nailsea. It provides high quality, school-based experience and training in partnership with Somerset SCITT, the School Direct consortium aims to create a pathway of the highest quality training and possible succession opportunities for trainees within its partner schools. The course will provide qualified teacher status (QTS), as well as a post graduate certificate in education (PGCE).
 

Ideal candidate:

  •  we are looking for ambitious trainee teachers who are enthusiastic about teaching in an early years or primary setting. We expect applicants to have a degree (Class 2:2 or higher), preferably with relevance to the primary curriculum, as well as strong English, maths, science and ICT skills. (Minimum requirements are grades C at GCSE for English, maths and science).

 

  • we are looking for trainees who can demonstrate a passion for teaching and learning and a rapport with children and adults, your commitment could be demonstrated by meaningful experience of working with children of primary age, whether in a school setting or, for example, a voluntary group, church group etc.

 

  • we will also expect you to be able to let us know in your application or interview what interests you in teaching, what you think you have to offer and what you think you have to learn.
