Return to teaching information evening
5 January 2016 at 16:15 - 18:00 in Holmes Chapel at the Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School
The Chimney House Alliance has its first ‘Return to teaching’ enrolment event on 5 January 2016.
The Chimney House Alliance is delighted to have been awarded the contract as part of the Department for Education’s national strategy to encourage teachers to return to the profession. The aim of the pilot is to attract former teachers in shortage subjects back into teaching, and to provide them with the support to ease their return to the classroom.
Recent national figures predict future teacher shortages so programmes such as the ‘Return to teaching’ pilot are increasingly important. Teachers are required in subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, English, modern foreign languages and computing.
The pilot programme not only provides support for returners in areas such as assessment, behaviour for learning and changes to curriculum, it also provides participants with the chance to practise those skills in the classroom under the guidance of subject experts.
Moreover, because these are shortage subjects, the expectation is that participants will find employment locally at the end of their training, hopefully within one of the Chimney House Alliance schools.
