Event information

We are thrilled to hear that you are considering becoming a primary school teacher. If you are hard-working, creative, energetic and committed to inspiring and making a difference to the next generation, then we would love to meet you!

Kernow Initial Teacher Education (KITE) is a well-established initial teacher education provider, and we are well known for ensuring that our future teachers receive outstanding training from experienced experts. We are committed to ensuring that our trainees receive first class support on a professional and personal level, from application through to employment. From September 2024, KITE will be working in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) to offer two primary PGCE with QTS teacher training programmes across Cornwall - Primary 3-7 years and primary 5-11 years.

Applicants will need to have GCSE grade C/4 or above in English, Maths and Science and they will need to have gained a 2:2 Degree Class before they start the programme. These are full time programmes and applicants are eligible to apply for student finance.

Sonya Herbert, the KITE Programme Lead will lead the information session and explain the content and structure of the programme: how school placements are organised, the types of support that you will receive. There will be guidance and lots of useful tips on how to apply and how you can best prepare for your interview.
