Teach First - 121 Meeting for professionals - London and South East

26 June 2019 at 12:00 - 17:00 in London at the Teach First Office

Event information:

Among developed countries, the UK has one of the worst rates of educational inequality. We believe your background should not dictate your destiny, and that everybody should have an equal chance to succeed. Our Leadership Development Programme places talented and committed people into classrooms where they are needed most.

The subjects that are most in demand are maths, science and MFL - 62% of low income pupils fail to achieve an A*- C science GCSE. If you hold a STEM, French or Spanish-related degree you may qualify to teach one of these subjects.

You can also teach maths and science from your A Levels or equivalent if it is grade B or above. You can complete a subject knowledge enhancement course (SKE) before you start teaching in September to boost both your finances and subject expertise.

If you are considering teaching science, geography, modern foreign languages or maths, meet one-to-one with a Teach First recruiter to find out more about how Teach First can help you move into a fulfilling and challenging career, and support you in developing your subject knowledge to teach it.

The LDP offers:

  • salaried from September 2020
  • a fully-funded and salaried route into teaching, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and Leadership (PGDE)
  • classroom based training leading to your Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • in addition to three dedicated support – professional mentor (school), academic tutor (university) and one-to-one coaching (Teach First)
