Funding for training to teach primary

As a primary trainee, there are two types of funding available if you’re on a non-salaried teacher training course. Depending on your circumstances, you could receive both. Alternatively, you could earn a salary while you train.

1. Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan

 You could apply for a Tuition Fee Loan to cover your tuition fees and a Maintenance Loan for your living costs. The available loans are:

  • a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £9,250 to cover your fees
  • a Maintenance Loan of up to £11,672 to support your living costs

2. Additional financial support

Earn a salary while you train
