Your next steps
While you wait to hear back from your chosen training providers, there are a number of things you can do to make sure you’re ready for the next stage of the application process. Here are some important steps to get you started.
Book your professional skills tests
You’ll need to pass the professional skills tests in numeracy and literacy before you can start your teacher training course – some providers may require you to take them before you interview. Find out all you need to know on our skills test page.
Prepare for your interview
From group tasks to presentations, the structure of your teacher training interview may vary depending on the provider, so it’s essential that you prepare. Our overview of interviews should give you some ideas on how to get ready.
If you choose not to accept an offer after your interview, or were unsuccessful in Apply 1, don’t worry. You can re-apply for a different teacher training course during the Apply 2 phase.
Depending on the subject you’re training to teach, you could be eligible for a tax-free bursary or scholarship. Make sure you’re familiar with the funding available to trainee teachers.
Remember, if you have any questions about teaching or teacher training, you can call us on 0800 289 3500.
